About Cabo Pulmo Marine Park
Cabo Pulmo is a marine park in the Sea of Cortez, on the east coast of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico. The park was established in 1995 and covers an area of approximately 3,000 hectares. In the 1980s this reef almost collapsed because of the years of fishing and toxic pollution, which badly impacted Tourism. But after the intervention of the locals and with the help of the Mexican government this reef was declared a national park and fishing off-limits. These triumphant efforts worked and now Cabo Pulmo has been declared a world heritage site and it is home to a profusion of fish and marine life and is considered a world class dive site. The reefs here are some of the healthiest in the world, and the park is a popular destination for San Jose Del Cabo Scuba and Snorkeling.
